Very much a book targeted at a sympathetic audience. It’s just not a very pleasant read; Murray uses the entire book to enumerate countless examples of what he presumably considers ridiculous and outrageous attacks on The West and its culture, but doesn’t take the time to explain why these attacks are worthy of ridicule, why the culture and tradition they attack is better, and what could be done about it.

I was hoping he’d follow up on The Madness of Crowds and The Strange Death of Europe with a more pro-active book that tries to push back against these ‘anit-Western Warriors’, but this book ain’t that.

If you generally agree with him it’s depressing; and if you don’t, it’s not convincing.

The title of this book is a little odd given its contents, as McWhorter preferes to refer to ‘woke’ people as the Elect throught the book. Perhaps a good companion read for Discrimination & Disparities (Sowell), though I find Sowell more compelling.
